Wagging Tails is solely owned & operated by Meredith Nehmer, an avid pet lover and professional licensed pet sitter who lives in The Woodlands Texas & who always puts the happiness and welfare of your pets first! Communication: The goal of Wagging Tails is simple…create total peace of mind for you by providing the absolute best care for your pet while you are away & often the best way to achieve this goal is through open & honest communication.

Here are some tips for creating peace of mind for yourself when traveling...

• Please make your pet sitting reservations as early as possible, especially prior to holidays.
  
• Have an extra house/apartment key made for Wagging Tails & please make sure it works.
• Purchase extra food, litter & supplies before you go away. Always buy a little extra is case you're away longer than expected.
• Display the name & phone number of your veterinarian in a prominent place.
• Let Wagging Tails know where to find cleaning supplies, ie the vacuum, mop, broom, dustpan, sponges, cleaners & trash bags & if there is a special way you like to clean.
• Show Wagging Tails where the fuse box/electrical box/ circuit breaker is & where to find new fuses in case there is an electrical storm while you are away.
• Let Wagging Tails know of areas that are off limits to your pets & pet sitter.
• Provide the names & phone numbers of contractors in case any problems arise while you are away, ie (electrician, plumber, maid service, yard & pool maintenance).
• Leave travel information, (dates you will be traveling, departure & arrival information, contact numbers length of stay, etc.), Please alert Wagging Tails if any of this information should change.
• Will another person be checking on your pet or home while you are away?  If so, let Wagging Tails know & please provide the following information (names & phone numbers, responsibilities & schedules) to both parties.
• Unplug any electrical appliances that will not be used to prevent injury to pets or damage during an electrical storm.
• Close the door on the clothes dryer-someone might fall in!
• Clean up anything that might be accidentally swallowed by your pet (Christmas tree tinsel, pine needles, string, ribbon or other holiday items).
• Never leave your pet in the garage.  Too many toxic substances may be stored there. If you feel you must, pet-proof the garage first.
• Make sure that indoor pets are inside.
• If your cat(s) escape(s) beforehand, let the sitter know to look for the animal(s) outside.
• Select a neighbor to keep an eye on your place while you're gone. Let your neighbor know that Wagging Tails will be coming to your home while you're away & give Wagging Tails the neighbor's name and phone number.
• Move valuables away from the windows.
• Put away bikes, outdoor toys and lawn furniture to prevent them from being stolen.
• Secure any outside gates & tell Wagging Tails which gates to keep closed at all times
• Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
• Do not hide keys for the sitter or others who might be entering your home while you're away. Instead, arrange to give Wagging Tails a copy of your key during your free consultation, this will ensure safety for you, your home & your pet!

Here are some tips for creating peace of mind for your pet when you are traveling...

•  You may want to consider leaving a piece of clothing that you've recently worn near where your pet sleeps as a reminder of you.
• You may also want to consider leaving the radio on to keep your pet company and deter crime. (Now-a-days, flat screen televisions are limited to a certain number of life hours before they turn black & you need a new one).
• Please tell Wagging Tails where you keep your pet's favorite toys & how your pet prefers to play with them.
• If your pet chews for recreation, what are the certain "hot spots" Wagging Tails should be aware of?
• Explain what your pet's routines &                 schedules are, (eating, sleeping, walking, playing)?
• Does your pet have any unusual habits while you are away, (ie, changes in bowel movements, eating habits, fears, etc.)?
• Where are your pet's favorite hiding places?
• Does your pet have any major or minor health problems that require medication? If so, please provide the schedule, location & emergency routine for the medication.
• Display the name and phone number of your veterinarian in a prominent place. Show it to Wagging Tails before departing.
• Provide up to date written verification of vaccinations (collar tags or vaccination certificates).
• Make sure that your pet has an identification tag that fits properly with name, phone number &/or address (this pertains to both cats & dogs).
• Place out appropriate food and water bowls for your pet's use. 
• If Wagging Tails will be coming in the evening, please explain what lights you would like on. This will allow Wagging Tails to not get injured while trying to find a way in the dark, it will also deter crime & make your pet feel more comfortable & at home.
• Please place everything needed for your pet's care, (ie, leashes, food, medication, food & water bowls) in a specific area. Let Wagging Tails know where this area is.
• You may want to consider selecting a neighbor to keep an extra eye on your home while you're away.  Be sure to let your neighbor know that Wagging Tails will be coming to your home while you're away & please give parties each others name and phone numbers.
